Dad's Garage
569 Ezzard Street, Atlanta  30312
(404) 523-3141
Join the USS Republic on an away mission to The Wrath of Con!
Dad's Garage's legendary show gets a remount!  This scripted comedy explores the eccentric, outlandish and yet exceptionally human realm of sci-fi fandom.  Luckily, here at Dad's Garage, we have first-hand experience with this subject matter... on account of the fact that we're all giant nerds!  Get ready for amazing musical numbers, "celebrity" sightings and a ridiculous amount of references all rolled into one show!

Tickets for the final show are $19.50 online or $21.50 by phone or at the door.  The show lasts approximately 90 minutes with a 15-minute intermission.  Purchase your ticket on the web site linked below, then confirm your attendance on the event page linked below.  Costumes or USS Republic/Treklanta t-shirts encouraged!  Make it so!
The Terror: Infamy:
How Hollywood Is Telling the Story of One of the Darkest Moments in Our Nation's History

3:40 p.m. — 5:30 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2019
Mercer Ballroom
Loews Atlanta Hotel
1065 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta  30309
Join the USS Republic on an away mission to see an exclusive advance screening of The Terror: Infamy followed by a panel discussion hosted by Georgia Takei about his new documentary!
Set during World War II, the haunting and suspenseful second season of the horror-infused anthology The Terror: Infamy centers on a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese-American community and a young man's journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible.  The series features a cast and crew with a number of personal connections to this historical time, starting with George Takei, who lived in two internment camps as a child and is on board as a series regular and consultant.  The lead character is played by Derek Mio, a fourth-generation Japanese American, whose grandfather lived on Terminal Island and was sent to Manzanar internment camp after Pearl Harbor.  Mio also recently appeared in the Netflix docuseries Medal of Honor, where he portrayed WWII Medal of Honor Recipient Hiroshi Miyamura.

This exclusive advance screening of The Terror: Infamy will be held at 3:40 p.m. in the Mercer Ballroom at the Loews Atlanta hotel.  Following the screening, at 4:30 p.m., a one-hour panel discussion featuring lead actor Derek Mio, actor/consultant George Takei and showrunner Alexander Woo will be presented.

The screening and panel discussion are part of REPRESENT, a day-long program for creators of color and their allies in news and entertainment media, presented by the Atlanta chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA).  Tickets for the day-long program are $50 (+ $4.67) in advance by online purchase or $75 (+ $6.20) at the door.  There is no discount available for attending only the screening and panel discussion.

USS Republic CO Eric L. Watts invites you to join him for these two events.  Purchase your ticket online at the web site link below and confirm your plans to attend by clicking "Going" on the event page linked below.  USS Republic or Treklanta t-shirts encouraged!  Make it so!

Join the USS Republic on an away mission to the Blue Ribbon Grill!
It's been a while since we gathered together to break bread with friends in fandom and fellowship, so let's have an awesome dinner with one of our longest-running supporters, the Blue Ribbon Grill, to catch up and talk about this year's Treklanta, the exciting new Star Trek: Picard series coming early next year and what your plans might be for Giant*Fire-Breathing*Lizard*Con the following weekend.  If you have your copy of this year's Treklanta program book, bring it to receive 20% off your check (coupon is on page 8) or simply print out this newsletter with the ad above intact and in color.

Our friends at the Blue Ribbon Grill always appreciate it when we can let them know how many of us to expect and prepare seating for, so PLEASE visit the event page below and click "Going" if you plan to attend.

ABOUT THE REPUBLIC
The USS Republic NCC-1371 was originally commissioned as a chapter of STARFLEET International on May 14, 1988, at the Dixie-Trek convention in Atlanta, Georgia.  As of July 25, 2019, the Republic crew includes 39 members who are active members of STARFLEET in good standing.
The Republic plans and coordinates an active schedule of events for its members, but does not hold meetings on a consistently fixed date each month.
Because the USS Republic is a duly commissioned chapter of STARFLEET International and is bound and governed by its Constitution and By-Laws, membership in STARFLEET is a prerequisite for membership in the Republic.  STARFLEET membership dues are $5 for one person and Republic chapter dues are $10 ($15 total).  The Republic collects a single combined dues payment for both groups and remits the STARFLEET portion to them on the Republic member's behalf.  STARFLEET offers family discounts for additional members as shown below.  Additional information about membership options, amounts due for additional family members, payment options and instructions for other forms of payment is on the "How to Join" page of our award-winning web site.
